November news update

Many thanks to those of you who supported the Beauty Event on Tuesday 20th November. Obviously the time was not convenient for many people, but we are very grateful to the House of Beauty for hosting this event and to those who supported it. We raised £50 from the event.

Many thanks to all who have inundated me with items for the Christmas Hampers this week! We now have enough items for two fantastic hamper competitions for the Christmas Fayre on Friday 7th December. For the bargain price of £1 per guess, you can guess the value of the Food & Drink hamper or the Pamper Hamper and have the chance to win some amazing goods. The House of Beauty have kindly donated items to the Pamper Hamper and both hampers are really amazing quality and value for money. We hope you will have a go at winning them!

There will be a number of other competitions at the Christmas Fayre, including naming the two teddy bears on offer and guessing the number of sweets in a jar for those of you with a sweet tooth! There is treasure to be found on a Treasure Map and a whole variety of games to play.

In addition, we have the Primary Department children singing carols at the start of the Fayre and a whole range of stalls selling:
* Christmas cards and crafts
* home-made produce (cakes, buns, jams, chutneys etc.)
* Jamie Oliver tableware
* jewellery
* Christmas wreaths

You can also get your nails painted and we are hoping to have a face painting stall as well.

Refreshments will also be served, including hot turkey and stuffing sandwiches.

Dates for the diary:
* Monday 3rd December at 8 p.m. (note the later time)
FHHS Planning Meeting

* Friday 7th
December from 3-5 p.m.

Many thanks for your support of the Bag2School Recycling Day on Friday. We had loads of bags so hopefully will have raised loads of money!

This Tuesday is the House of Beauty Event from 2-4 p.m. We still have a number of slots available for this, so if you would like to treat yourself or a friend to a facial, manicure, pedicure or massage for the bargain price of £18, please get in touch by 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Pre-orders for tableware from the Jamie @ Home lady who will be at the Christmas Fayre need to be received in school by Friday 23rd November in the morning in order to guarantee delivery at the Christmas Fayre on Friday 7th December. Catalogues are available on request from the school office and orders must be accompanied by full payment. These items can also be ordered at the Fayre itself.

Items donated for the Hamper competitions should also be handed in by Friday 23rd November. These could include:
* Christmas crackers

Beauty Event time changes

Many apologies for the change, but we have been informed by the House of Beauty that evening slots are not available for our Beauty Event. We now have 30 slots between 2 and 4 p.m. on Tuesday 20th November. Please book this week so that I can sort out details for this event.

Treatments cost £18 per half-hour and payment must be made at the time of booking (cheques should be made payable to 'Friends of Barnsley Christian School', as we are still in the process of changing our bank account to reflect the school's new name.) Treatments can be booked via the school office, by telephone on 01226 211011 or by email (exams@hopehouseschool.org.uk). You can send in a reply slip with your child along with your payment if you wish.

Looking forward to seeing you on 20th November!

Jamie At Home

It has all been happening today at school! Plans are coming together for the Christmas Fayre on Friday 7th December and we are pleased to announce that Diane Ayre, a representative for Jamie At Home will be at the Fayre selling tableware and crockery endorsed by Jamie Oliver.

Catalogues and order forms are available in school now from the office and orders with payments can be taken. All orders received by 23rd November will be available for collection at the Christmas Fayre, but you can also place orders at the Fayre and Diane guarantees delivery before Christmas.

There are some lovely items for sale, ideal for Christmas presents, so please do take advantage of this opportunity.

We still need items for the Christmas Hampers (items of food and drink for one hamper and toiletries for another) and would be grateful if these could be sent into school by Friday 23rd November as well. Home baking, home produce (jams, mincemeat, pickled onions, chutneys etc.) and crafts will also be gratefully received (and sold!)

Many thanks for all your ongoing support.

Beauty Event

House of Beauty (click here for website) have agreed to host another Beauty event in aid of school funds. This will take place in two sessions on Tuesday 20th November.

You can book a half-hour treatment from 2-4 p.m. in the afternoon or from 6-8 p.m. in the evening and pay just £18 for this (normal prices are about £26). Treatments available are:
• Shellac Fingers
• Shellac Toes
• Clarins Express Facial
• Deep Tissue Back Massage
• Face & Eye Refresher
• Indian Head Massage
• Soothing Face & Scalp Mass
• Grooming Manicure
• Floating Feet Pedicure

This is a fantastic opportunity to treat yourself or a loved one before Christmas, and there are usually opportunities to buy (and win) amazing beauty products as well, so we are confident this will be a really successful event.

The House of Beauty is situated on Pitt Street, just around the corner from school:

If you would like to book a treatment, please contact me at school, by phone (01226 211011) or by email (exams@hopehouseschool.org.uk), giving me your name, contact details, preferred time and preferred treatment. Payment of £18 will also be required at the time of booking.

In the past, these events have sold out virtually straightaway, so do contact me soon if you are interested!

Recycling Day

The Bag2School Recycling Day is on Friday 16th November. Bags will be sent out this week. Please send in your unwanted good quality clothes, bedding, curtains, belts, shoes and handbags. School receives money based on the weight of items received, so this is an ideal opportunity to have that clear-out before Christmas and help raise funds for school at the same time!

All items should be brought into school on the morning of 16th November. We don't have the space to store items before then, but please do bring items in then so that we can raise more funds.
