We have a number of fund-raising events planned for the summer term, so please do note these dates:
Bag2School Thursday 9th May
All your unwanted clothes, bedding, curtains, bags, belts and shoes can be put to good use! Bring them into school in the morning on 9th May and these can be weighed in to raise cash for school. The last Bag2School day raised £150, so you can spring-clean and fund-raise at the same time!
Bake ‘n’ Take Tuesday 14th May
Home baking will be needed for this Bake 'n' Take, so if you can help, please let us know. The Bake 'n' Take will start at 3 p.m. as usual.
Sponsor money from the Channel Challenge Sponsored Swim is due in by Friday 7th June.
International Summer Soirée Friday 21st June
This is our main social event for the summer term. We are hoping to have an evening of musical entertainment and games with an international flavour, coupled with foods from different countries. So far, we are planning to have Mexican chilli con carne, French boeuf bourgignon, Indian chicken curry, Italian lasagne and English sausage & Yorkshire puddings to suit every palate. Tickets for the evening will cost £7 and will be available from the office. Friends, parents and pupils from Year 7 upwards are invited to share in this evening and hopefully we will all have a great evening.
Sports Day Friday 12th July
The Sports Day will be on Friday 12th July from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and parents are welcome to attend this event. Weather permitting, it will be held at Shaw Lane Cricket Ground as usual. All pupils will be taking part in this event which combines fun races with other games and sports.
Friends of Hope House School (FHHS) is a group of parents, friends, staff and pupils who are working to improve the facilities in school and enhance the school's family atmosphere.

Planning meeting
The next FHHS Planning Meeting will be on Monday 15th April at 7.30 p.m. in school. It would be great to see as many people as possible at this meeting to plan fund-raising and social events for the summer term. Sports Day is always a highlight of the summer term (and hopefully the weather will improve sufficiently that we can do this outdoors this year!), so that is one event we already know about, but it would be good to have some new ideas and suggestions for events.
The Channel Challenge Sponsored Swim is well under way now, so if you have not sponsored one of our brave swimmers, please do so to raise funds for the school! I completed my 10 miles during the Easter holidays and a number of other staff, pupils and parents are also involved, so do please help to make this an amazing total we raise, not just a fantastic distance that is swum!
