Summer term news

We are sorry to have to cancel the proposed International Summer Soirée (due to be held this Friday, 21st June) due to a lack of interest in this event. Obviously this kind of evening was not as popular as we had hoped!

Many thanks to all who have handed in sponsor monies for the Channel Challenge Sponsored Swim. So far, we have raised £277 from this event and we are still waiting for some people to hand in their money. Many thanks to all who have participated in this event and to all who have willingly sponsored the swimmers!

Please note that the next event is the Bake 'n' Take which will be on Tuesday 16th July at 3 p.m. (last week in term.) Home baking for this event will be needed, so if you can help with this, please let me know!

Project updates

You might rightly wonder what we do with all the money raised from the variety of events held throughout the year. Our aim is to improve the facilities and equipment in school and over the past year we have bought a number of projectors and monitors and printers for different classrooms. We will shortly be buying a projector for the Early Years Unit. We have also given money to buy materials for new costumes for the Primary Department for the Christmas play and to the Senior Drama Department for purchasing props for different drama pieces devised by pupils.

Our next main project will be to help refurbish the outdoor area between school and the Post Office. Pupils have been asked to come up with ideas and designs for this area and we hope that it can be transformed into an outdoor learning/ play environment. It will certainly need a lot of hard work and good ideas to transform what is basically an overgrown, neglected piece of land into an area of fun and learning, but that is the kind of project we like to support, because we know that parents and friends like to see the money they donate through all these events result in visible, lasting change.

The area currently looks like this:

Use your imaginations and think what it could look like and hopefully we will be able to show photographs of the various stages of transformation as we work to provide all pupils with a place of beauty rather than desolation and neglect!

June updates

Please note that if you wish to book tickets for the International Summer Soirée on 21st June, you need to get these from the office by Wednesday 12th June. So far, we have had a limited response to this event and without a greater sale of tickets (which cost £7 for an evening of international cuisine and entertainment) by next Wednesday, the event will sadly have to be cancelled. Please let us know if you would like to buy tickets!

Many thanks for your support of recent Bake 'n' Takes. The Easter one raised £118.55 altogether and the one in May raised a total of £85.60 when all monies were handed in. We are grateful for the way you bake for these events and support with your attendance. We will be holding one final Bake 'n' Take this year on Tuesday 16th July at 3 p.m., so we hope this will be a bumper baking day!
